Who’s responsible for poverty? Those who are in poverty or the societies they live in? This video ‘Speaking of Poverty, Differently’ seeks to answer this question.
In this video Olivier De Schutter, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, says that poverty is often attributed to individuals who made mistakes or weren’t able to take advantage of opportunities. In fact, De Schutter argues that poverty is a collective failure and that we must create societies and economies that are inclusive, where no one is left behind and everyone has a chance to give input and to help find solutions.

I am not agreed with video Olivier De Schutter, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, saying that “poverty is often attributed to individuals who made mistakes or weren’t able to take advantage of opportunities”. In fact,most of the time the poor policies and poor governance are responsible for accelerating poverty at individual and collective level.Poverty is a collective failure of the society. There are numbers of examples in Pakistan, i.e. millions of peoplere working with NGOs and tourism industry lost their jobs, projects with banning on NGO’s working and due to failure of tourism regulation in Pakistan because of covid19.over 10 million people went below poverty line within 2 years.
