ATD-UK Activist Urges Action on Poverty
ATD Fourth World Activist Lareine Mouoguia talks about being a mother in London, which has the highest poverty rate of any English region. When children don’t eat well, she says, they can’t concentrate or succeed at school. Ashamed of their poverty, they feel “broken” and can’t learn. Sometimes they don’t have the energy even to go to school. Without an investment in children, she insists, “Poverty will repeat itself over and over”.
