Protecting Futures: Addressing Lack of Access to Education for Children without Legal Identity
Online Symposium: 28 November 2023 – 1-4 PM (Central European Time) – register here
Children without legal identity
ATD Fourth World is one of the founding members of the Working Group on the right to an identity led by the NGO Child Identity Protection.
The right to an identity is one of ATD’s priorities, as millions of children around the world are denied access to an education because they because they lack a legal identity.
We are therefore sharing with you this invitation to an on-line symposium on this topic, in which Carolina Escobar Sarti, a member of the International Committee for October 17, will speak on behalf of ATD Fourth World. She will talk about the situation of children living in poverty in Guatemala as well as in other Latin American countries.
The symposium is entitled “Protecting futures : addressing lack of access to education for children without legal identity,“ and will take place on November 28 from 13:00 to 16:00 Paris time.
Importantly, this event offers the opportunity for stateless children to be heard with a dedicated session allowing children and youths to directly engage policy makers to better understand what they are doing to advance children nationality rights and access to education.
You will find the full programme here as well as the link to register for the symposium. You can also read the CHIP newsletter.
Interpretation will be available in English, French, Spanish, and Arabic.
