Dialogue on Poverty, Development and Peace in Classrooms

DianaHeadShotSmall400A dialogue entitled Poverty, Development and Peace in Poor Classrooms has been organized to mark World Teachers Day on Monday, October 5, 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa.

 

MartinHeadShotGuest speakers Diana Skelton, Deputy Director of ATD Fourth World (All Together in Dignity), and Martin Kalisa, from ATD’s regional support team for Africa,  will spark the discussion.  A performance by teachers and members of the Bonfire Theatre Project will follow.  Sponsored by the British Council, this event is a call to celebrate  all educators’ continual spirit of learning and exchange:

Teacher, educator, facilitator, capacity builder – call us what you like! We all believe in the liberating and uplifting power of knowledge, understanding, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and the application of these for the benefit of humanity and people’s development. That is why we invest in our learning! That is why we celebrate World Teachers’ Day!

The day’s programme will run from 08h30 to 15h00 and take place at the District Six Homecoming Centre, located at 15 Buitenkant Street, Cape Town. An entrance fee of R100 is being charged to cover the cost of refreshments.
