When we did research on the violence of extreme poverty, we wanted to bring our friends in the Philippines to participate in an international seminar. In the end though, they weren’t able to get the visas necessary to participate.

Why? This is a problem that we face often – people living in extreme poverty often don’t meet the requirements needed for an international visa. It’s something which keeps them from participating in these events as they should.

In the case of the Philippines though, there was something of a nice end to the story, as simply going through the process of applying for a visa brought enough change to make a difference in people’s lives. Watch the video to find out more.
